“Daisy” The Doll That Came To Life “Photo of the Day”

Today’s “Photo of the Day” September 1st, 2014 for Land of Oz Dolls is actually three photos that were taken back on February 9th, 2011. The two larger dolls are an 18″ Kestner “Daisy” on the left and the 18″ Handwerck “Daisy” on the right. The Kestner 171 “Daisy” is made from the Seeley mold. The Handwerck version of “Daisy” is made from an old Handwerck 109 mold I had found. Both heads are on the same Daisy body, but one has a slightly larger forehead than the other so the difference in height. The smaller one in front is the “Daisyette” Kestner from the Collectible Doll Co. mold. Costumes were made by Pam Willits and Clara Pelfrey.

“Daisy” the Kestner 171 version, originally was “The Doll That Came To Life” through The Ladies Home Journal magazine back in 1911. I will be posting the complete history of “Daisy” soon but until then I hope you enjoy my “Photos of the Day” for “Daisy”.

“Photo of the Day” British Gentlemen

My “Photos of the Day” for August 31st, 2014 is of a pair of British Gentlemen I made several years ago as samples for a costuming seminar we had here at Land of Oz Dolls. The “Gentleman” in red is a Jullien reproduced from a Byron mold. The costume was made by Pam Willits and the seminar was taught by Pam. The “Gentlemen” in brown is a Steiner and was made from a Doll House Mold Co. mold, I made this costume in Pam’s seminar. The fabric for both of these costumes came from a wonderful antique store just 10 miles from me called “Ideas and Designs” in Mt. Carroll, Il. When I have seminars and retreats, a trip to “Ideas and Designs” is always on the agenda. They both stand approximately 25″ tall on the FB18S composition body. I hope you enjoy seeing this pair of “British Gentlemen”! Dolly Hugs, Connie Zink

Greenware & Bisque Catalog

This is a partial listing of the soft-fired greenware and bisque available in this catalog. I still have hundreds and hundreds of antique reproduction and modern dolls that need to be listed but just not enough hours in the day. If you are looking for any particular dolls, please email me about availability, landofozdolls@mchsi.com or phone 815-565-0024.

Here is a section of the Byron, BEC, and Seeley molds (mostly antique reproduction) that have been inventoried to this date. I have given you two ways to view the catalog. The sorted by company has all the molds from one company by number order. The one sorted by maker will list all the Brus, Jumeaus, etc together sorted by the company that produced the dolls.

NOTICE: As of January 1st, 2021 all soft-fired greenware and blank bisque prices will be increasing 20% of the catalog listed price. Sorry for the increase, but my prices have not been raised in over ten years and the cost of porcelain and shipping of porcelain has increased dramatically in this time. So please when figuring costs add 20% to the catalog prices. Thanks, Connie Zink Owner
